Lynda Rutledge, a fifth-generation Texan, has petted baby rhinos, snorkeled with endangered turtles, and dodged hurricanes as a freelance journalist publishing in national and internationally publications, while winning awards for her fiction from Illinois Arts Council, Writers League of Texas, Ragdale Foundation, and Atlantic Center for the Arts, among others. She and her husband live outside Austin.

"Faith Bass Darlings Last Garage Sale" was adapted into a major FRENCH motion picture starring French film icon Catherine Deneuve as "Claire Darling".
